Tears In Iowa City
Well, it's official:
Rachel is upset.
She's been crying for most of the day. When asked, she says she's not really in any physical pain. The best guess that we have is that she's probably upset that she is laying in a hospital bed with a bunch of tubes stuck in her.
We're trying to keep her spirits up. We understand that this is a process, and we're committed to helping her get back to 100% health. However, that's not an overnight fix, and perhaps Rachel is realizing that fact.
Whatever the case, please continue praying for peace and strength for her.

Ryan came home Tues night to put in a few days work and will return to Iowa City early tomorrow (Sat). Hopefully Ryan's presence will encourage her!
Love,
Nancy (Ryan's mom)
Hang in there Rachel! We are praying for you! Remember this is going to be a process and this is one step to getting better! Hang in there, wish we were closer so we could visit! Amanda and Robert Willis of NC
This breaks my heart! Please let us know if the cards or calls make a difference to her at this point(I know they will in time), or if there is anything long distance friends can do. Of course, we are still lifting her up to the Lord,
Emily
Hope Rachel is soon moved out of SICU and into a room with a window so she can see the world once again. It should be so uplifting to see sunshine or rain, her card, flowers and all the well wishes. Know it will enlighten her day to have Ryan there with her.

Rachel I know it seems overbearing at this moment, yet we have the relief His mercys are new every morning. Lean into God's love and know that His arms are tightly wrapped around you. My prayers are with you.

Dear Rachel,
My name is Emily Hipps and I know Anna Baltensperger and her sister Emily. I just wanted to let you know that our family is following your progress and praying ferverently for you and Ryan! Don't give up hope! Our God is a God of miracles, as we can see by the fact that you are alive today, and He never allows something into our lives that He does not intend to use for our good. I am praying for you, sister, that our Lord would life your heart in the midst of this time and fill you with His peace and joy. We are praying for you!

Hey Rachel,
You are in my prayers.
Tears can be very healing both physically, emotionally and spiritually.
As good as you are doing, it's okay to cry for what you have lost. I understand how you feel as I was once in your shoes/bed, although different circumstances had me there.
Keep up the good work, take it from me...you will one day look back at these days and praise God for His works, even if we will never understand them.
Mary (Anja's friend)
Keep up the good work.
